Perpetual Professions, Myanmar
ANISAKAN-MYANMAR: May 10, 2014 -- Myanmar was blessed with 5 perpetually professed members on the feast of St Dominic Savio, 3 Salesian Brothers and 2 preparing for the priesthood.

Salesian Brothers: Ambrose Thant Zin Oo, Dominic Sai Thi Ha and Francis Xavier Sa had completed their specific formation at the Salesian Brothers Formation Centre at Parañaqe, Philippines. They then came back to Myanmar to make their total commitment in the presence of their parents and relatives and the Salesian Family.

Clerics: Henry Myo Aung and John Peter Zin Min Thu are studying at the Catholic National Seminary in Yangon. They have completed their third year of Theological studies.

Fr Maurice Vallence, Superior of the vice province officiated at the ceremony, which also saw 16 concelebrating Salesian priests. Fr Maurice emphasised the beauty of the Salesian Brother vocation in his homily. Culturally, the Salesian Brother vocation is not appreciated properly in the country.

The occasion was honoured by the presence of Archbishop Charles Bo, SDB. Among the five perpetuandi four were initiated in their Salesian vocation by the Archbishop himself. Their first knowledge of the Salesian society was the Archbishop when he was transferred to the Diocese of Pathein from Lashio. He was Bishop of Pathein from 1998-2004. During his pastoral visits to the parishes the bishop whispered to the young, asking them if they’d like to be Salesians. We had many candidates from the diocese of Pathein when the Bishop was there. A priest was ordained last December and now four perpetually professed members.

In his address at the end of the the Mass the Archbishop reminded everyone that caring for vocations is essential for the life of the Congregation.
Bro. Francis Sa spoke in the name of the perpetuandi thanking Archbishop Charles Bo, superiors and the participants.
