ADELAIDE:   Monday November 10th.

The Provincial Advisory Council on Schools (PACS) met last weekend in
Melbourne. The group exists to advise the Provincial and his Council on
matters relating to schools in the province. The main topics resolved
at the meeting were:

1. A Conference of Leaders in Australian Salesian Schools will be held
in February 1998 at Auxilium College Lysterfield. The theme of the
Conference will be to reflect on the dramatic changes being observed
in Australian Society and the manner in which the Salesian School can
respond in the spirit of the Salesian Tradition.

2. the PACS has undertaken an initiative to establish an 'On-line'
program of study in Salesian philosophy and practice for teachers in
Salesian schools. The program will use resources located in all the
English speaking areas of the Salesian world. It is hoped that the
completion of  the set program of study will lead to the granting of
Certification from the Australian Institute of Salesian Studies.
