Welcome to the new Salesian Coadjutor Archbishop of Rabaul

RABAUL: 15 July 2010 --
July 11 was a great and memorable day for the Salesians of Papua New Guinea: Bishop Francesco Panfilo was installed as Coadjutor Archbishop of Rabaul. The sad part of it is that no Salesian was present at the ceremony. Both Fr. Valeriano Barbero, his close friend, and the Salesians of Rabaul who were in Port Moresby for the annual Retreat, could not board the plane because it was overbooked. Three hours of begging for a place did not bring any result. PNG style: either the flights are cancelled or overbooked. In order to fly you need  luck. Anyway Bishop Panfilo or better Achbishop Francesco Panfilo accepted our apology, wrote that  the installation ceremony was very solemn and that he will contact us with some news as soon as he will have a telephone...that works!
