Vunabosco hosts joint youth leadership event

VUNAPOPE: 28 April 2010
 -- Vunabosco campus was the setting for the annual Youth Leadership Camp co-hosted and sponsored by the Salesians at Vunabosco and the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Sisters school (OLSH). The camp ran from 17-19 April and was aimed at creating effective leadership by emphasising personal accountability, identity and opportunityn the Vunabosco campus for two days, 17th to 19th April, 2010 creating effective leadership through individual accountability, identity and opportunity.

Nine schools took part in the event, involving 168 students, boys and girls, divided into 8 mixed teams.The sessions were tailored to suit the needs of the present day school leader and included leadership styles, PIE management (planning, implementation and evaluation), effective public speaking, youth spirituality and secretarial and accounts execution ( SAFE management); this last named session included learning how to write and record minutes, conduct meetings, cash flow management, procurement of funds, managing accounts and advertising.  Of course there were games and other fun activities.

Students and staff from the schools agreed that the venue was ideal, the general Salesian style of animation very effective, and the event worthy of repetition next year.
