12 men of passion for Christ and for humanity and 21 promising new ones

MANILA: 19th July 2007: On July 16th, 2007, Feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, the Seminaryo ng Don Bosco had twelve students of theology ordained as deacons. It was the biggest number of deacons ordained so far in the past seven years. The twelve new deacons come from: 2 - FIN, 1 - FIS, 4 – VIE (2 are for PNG/SI), 2 - ITM, 3 - LKC. The deacons were invited by the ordaining prelate Bishop Jesse Mercado, D.D. to be men of passions - passionate for Christ for it is He who strengthens them. And furthermore the bishop told them to be passionate about the service of the word and at table. Definitely, these new deacons are passionate young men! And their passion will be felt not only in the Seminaryo but in the EAO – East Asia and Oceania Region. One could also see how this passion was shared by all those present…the 46 post novices and pre-novices animating the singing with Fr. Ian Rosal as conductor; the presence of many young people who were invited and challenged to consider the priestly and religious life; the presence of the relatives who came from as far as Vietnam and Cebu with Fr. Julius, provincial of FIS; and the presence of about 500 guests in all.
Together with the 12 new deacons, there are also 21 new candidates for perpetual profession. The 21 new candidates for perpetual profession come from the EAO Region. They have already begun the program which runs for a year and which will culminate with the perpetual profession on May 1, 2008.
