Bangalore 'BOSCO' Director receives award today.
 
BANGALORE: 12th June '04 --  Fr. Koottungal Vargheese, the Executive Director of BOSCO, Bangalore has been chosen by the Department of Labour, Government of Karnataka, for the "Makkala Mithra" state award for the year 2004, for the extraordinary achievements of BOSCO in the field of eradication of Child Labour. The award carries Rs. 10,000/- in cash and a 'Citation of Recognition'. The award is to be presented to Fr. Vargheese at a special function held at Vidhan Saudha today,12th June 2004.
 
BOSCO in this instance is in fact an acronym in the Kanada language of Bangalore.  In English it would mean, simply, the Bangalore work for street children.
