'....To catch a thief''

PHNOM PENH: 13th June 2006 --  Recall the 1955 Hitchcock-directed movie 'To catch a thief''?  No?  But anyway, Don Bosco Phnom Penh had a live re-run of some of the plot just this weekend past.  It was a hot Saturday afternoon, and the students had just finished playing basketball when they all begun running towards the 'pyramid' (the hall), with two young men out in front of them, running for dear life.  Fr Cef, who was conversing with a group of students, noted the disturbance and thought perhaps the boys were fighting.  Suddenly one young man climbed the fence quickly followed by the other.  Fr Cef ran to stop them - but stopped short when confronted with a .38 calibre pistol. Fr Cef realised they were not students from Don Bosco!
The two escaped towards the football field on the western side of the property when they saw two policemen on a motorcycle.  One had a rifle and was aiming it at the escapees who clambered up another fence leading to the kitchen and the farm.  The police then ordered the students to help them catch the thieves.  It turned out that four young men had robbed a person of his motorcycle then shot him in the left leg.  The four fled to the Pagoda where the two in question climbed the fence into DBTS.
Everybody ran to the farm while the police fired shots at the two escapees.  The two thieves threw away their bullets and the pistol and left the DBTS property by climbing the northern wall, only to fall into the hands of villagers who punished them severely.  A couple of the students got a bit too curious and gathered round just as a third policeman arrived on the scene and pointed his gun at one of the students - who raised his hands and shouted out 'Don Bosco', 'Don Bosco'.  The policeman realised his error and let the students go back to school
