Don Bosco Comms Centre, Sihanoukville, Kep

KEP: 14 June 2012 --  Greetings from our social communication center in Don Bosco Sihanoukville and Kep. We are at the end of the second cycle of studies for the second year group in our technical schools. By July 2012, more than 600 young persons will leave to look for a job in Cambodia and we hope they will do their best to be good citizens, honest individuals and men and women with human values to share with their country and its development.

It is also the departure time for our fourth generation group of social communicators. Since 2007, some of our communicator past pupils are part of NGOs, companies and the Cambodian media as audiovisual editors, webmasters, social workers and reporters. We have been active in the development of the Cambodian Internet, producing material in Khmer language on sites like Wikipedia, blogspot, social networks, Youtube, Vmeo and others with an educational, formative and information goal in mind. Our students do not only have technical skills to share, but also a  conscience formed ethically and with humanity.

We alsothank all our benefactors and volunteers. Thanks to them, our young people get an opportunity to be involved in a formative process lasting four semesters at Don Bosco. Many of them are residents while they study and we can even provide  some food and many other benefits, while our benefactors give their support.

We also produce a simple bulletin with reflections on communication, coming also from our daily experiences in that area. You can find some material in English and Khmer that can be useful for your own communities. If you have any suggestion about it, we can improveit as a means of formation in this area that is so important for the development of a country like Cambodia and in the fight to reduce poverty.
