Solomon Islands - friendly people, says Salesian Bulletin editor

HONIARA: 18th 2006 -- Fr Frank Freeman sdb, headmaster in Australia for some 40 years, and also editor of the Salesian Bulletin for at least half that period, visited Solomon Islands in the first week of April. "It's nice to know people can be so friendly, welcoming and content with what they have", were his immediate reactions.
While in the country he spent time with the Salesians, getting first-hand information on the work with the people in their various settings.  He was happy to visit Sali village to celebrate the Eucharist and spend a relaxed day at Visale.  The cheerful seventy six year old priest also preached and animated the Salesians as they made their monthly recollection.  He reminded them to perform well the simple things that can sometimes be forgotten.  While in the country he made a special visit to SIBC, Radio Happi Isles, PAOA FM and the Solomon Star.
He had been the first Australian Salesian for some time to visit the Solomon Islands from the Australian Province.  An ardent supporter of the media, he has boosted the work of Catholic Communications Solomons through the support of the ACPA.  The next Salesian Bulletin (AUL) will proudly feature Solomon Islands and the different works the Salesians have been involved in over the past 10 years.
The Australian Salesian Bulletin is published five times a year with a circulation of 20,000, and runs into 32 coloured pages.  Many of the articles are based on family, social issues and news.
