School holidays with a difference - thanks to Korean youth volunteers

PHNOM PENH: 19th January 2007 -- The International Youth Volunteer Service Korea is back in Cambodia.  This time it is for a 'School vacation with a difference'.  A team of fifty volunteers is a real Salesian Family, comprising 2 Salesian priests, 2 Salesian brothers, 2 Salesian lay persons, 28 Salesian youth, 15 Salesian friends, 1 Salesian Sister - and with support from the Mal Goo You Medical Group they have all come to Cambodia to promote life and wellness within the framework of Salesian spirituality.
Packed with sleeping bags, victuals, computers, medical instruments, boxes of medicine and working tools, they have come to join Don Bosco Technical School's outreach programs for the poorest of the poor.
Program One is on 'Life and Wellness'.  St Francis Xavier Parish, mainly a Vietnamese Catholic Community of 200 families with 900 Catholics, staff, students and neighbours of Don Bosco Technical School, and clients of Project HIV/AIDS of Don Bosco Children, will be treated by 15 Korean doctors and nurses during their 2 week 'working' vacation in Phnom Penh to check out their 'life and wellness' status.  The team arrived on Sunday 13 January and will do social and other work until 24 January, Feast of St Francis de Sales.
Don Bosco Technical School Phnom Penh has been the privileged locus for the human, spiritual and socio-cultural experience of the Korean Salesian Youth Movement. Twenty five Cambodian leaders and youth have hosted this 'vacation with a difference' experience.
