An Olympic reflection in Jakarta
JAKARTA: 26 July 2012 -- For two months now,  the Brothers from the Postnovitiate in Indonesia, the Wisma Salesian Don Bosco in Jakarta, have been on vacation before they resume  philosophical studies and other scholastic activities by the middle of August 2012. As it was for Don Bosco, so it is for them - vacations are but a change of activity. To keep themselves busy, one of the activities that they have organised with the leaders and the young people of the place is the sports league Don Bosco Cup 2012, especially to coincide with the Olympic Games in London.

The postnovitiate compound is open every day, and  that is why the many teams taking part in the league are not new to the place, since they usually train for their different kinds of sports, especially football, in the postnovitiate ground. The league has been organised to promote sportsmanship among the young people, ensure healthy friendships among them, and through the encounters, frequent talks and addresses given to them by the Salesians, it is hoped that these young people, most of whom are Muslims, will be faithful to Allah and honest as citizens of the Indonesian Republic.

Given the playground's important place in the educational system of Don Bosco, it is through sports activities like this that the young Salesians (clerics and brothers) are able to enter more and more into  the lives of the Muslim youth and acquaint themselves with all the team members. This is the twelfth league that has been organised, and this effort has been much appreciated by the population around, most of whom come to Don Bosco
every afternoon to eagerly watch the games their children are playing.
