Ikuei Salesian Polytechnic to compete in Greece Olympic Preview
 
TOKYO: 18th May '04 -- The Ikuei Salesian Polytechnic School of Tokyo, Japan, is one of the teams competing in the special solar car race event to be held in Greece from May 22 to May 29 this year.  This is amongst the activities in preparation for the coming Athens Olympics organized by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture.  The newly built solar car bears the name SALESIO at the front, and joins two other teams from Japan vying with other solar cars from Italy, USA, Australia, Germany, UK, Taiwan, The Netherlands, Brazil and Greece.  

Joining the team led by its instructors, Mr. Masaru Yoda and Mr. Satoshi Watanabe, are Fathers Tsugio
Tanaka (the school principal) and Motoyasu Fushiki. Details of the race may be seen in the website of the special event, http://www.phaeton2004.org/

Ikuei has also competed in the Darwin-to-Adelaide race in Australia since the early 90's and has even
received the Environmental Responsibility Award when it last joined in 2001.
