(note: for coverage of the Salesian day on 16th at Engadine (Sydney WYD), cf ANS coverage as there is little point in doubling up the same information, and I find myself in a part of the world where connection is both costly and difficult!. Suffice it to say that in Salesian terms 16th July at Engadine was a full and sensational day – visits by the RM to all the SDB/FMA works in Engadine, WYD Catechetics in St John Bosco Parish by Archbishop Dermot Ryan of Dublin, and Mass at which the RM read the Gospel.  Sensational Salesian youth day with all the nations … about 1,500 of them! Prayer, words of the RM, cultures and faith singing, dancing and mixing.  Could not have been better).

ORDINATION in CEBU

CEBU: 17th July 2008
--
The Philippine Salesian South Province received a blessing on the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Rev. Dennis Kho Gabiana was ordained a priest by Bishop Broderick Pabillo (Former SDB) at the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes, Punta Princesa.
In a celebration attended by 33  Salesian priests and members of the Salesian family, the bishop gave emphasis on the duties of the priest – not emphasizing his being a working pastor, but as a praying pastor of the community he is sent to shepherd.
His  vocation story began at the age of 13, when he chose to become a high school aspirant in a non-Salesian setting. His mother intervened over his choice when she picked a place closer to home. He found himself inside Don Bosco Missionary Seminary together with 39 other candidates. But only two would become priests.

Through the years Fr. Dennis (fondly called Fr. Den-Den)  would find so many timely interventions from another Mom. Considering himself as a “Marian Priest,” he shared in his first thanksgiving mass that followed just four hours after ordination,  how he felt in so many ways the wonderful involvement of Mary in his life. Beautifully capturing the love he felt from her, Fr.     Dennis chose the ordination motto: “Love bears all things.”
At the moment, he is assigned in Don Bosco Boys’ Home Liloan, Cebu.
