Massey, Auckland, New Zealand, 21 December 2023 -- At the nomination of the Salesian parish priest, Fr Mosese Tui, a Myanmar-born youth from the parish of St Paul’s Massey in New Zealand, Lam Lianzaw, received a Tu Kahikatea Award from Bishop Steven Lowe of Auckland Diocese on Saturday 2nd December.

The Tu Kahikatea Awards are annual awards given out by the Diocese of Auckland to recognize young people who have made an outstanding contribution in their community. The Awards are about celebrating the gift that young people are to the Catholic Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand, and thanking them for the outstanding contributions they have made.

Bishop Steve, in the Eucharistic celebration, thanked the leaders for what they do to shape our young people and encourage them in their faith. He emphasized that we are made by God and loved by God. The proud parish priest Fr Mosese was present and concelebrated at this special Eucharist.

Lam comes from a large Catholic refugee family who is totally committed to the life of the parish in Massey. She is not only active in the local Myanmar community but also at the parish as an outstanding youth for a number of years. Recently, she also graduated from the Auckland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Health Science in psychology.

Congratulations Lam, and St Paul’s Salesian parish in Massey, Auckland!
