Valdocco, Italy, 2 August 2022 -- As is the case every year, at the end of July the Successor of Don Bosco presented the Strenna for the following year 2023, to make possible good planning for the next educative and pastoral year 2022-2023, according to the geographical zones. Fr Angel F. Artime introduces his presentation with the Scripture verse:

"And again he said,“To what should I compare the kingdom of God? It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed in with three measures of flour until all of it was leavened” (Lk 13:20-21)

The main aim of the upcoming year's Strenna (2023) is to discover the lay dimension in Don Bosco's Salesian Family, where the majority of its members are lay people, women and men from every country and culture, with their lay and Christian life that calls upon them to be true leaven in humankind.

The presentation is made of the following 6 points:

  • A Kingdom of God germinating in our world, between light and shadow
  • A human family in need of... (each one of us contributes to the building of human family)
  • The lay person: a Christian who 'sanctifies the world from within'
  • Don Bosco's Family called to be yeast: complementarity and communion among the lay and religious members of the SF
  • In the shade of a large tree with beautiful fruit
  • Our young people as yeast in today's world

Since the large majority of Salesian Family members are 'lay people' and even many of Don Bosco and FMA past pupils are non-Christians, there are many expectations for this new Strenna with a deep spiritual and social impact in our world today. Definitely the 4 largest lay groups of the SF - Salesian Cooperators, ADMA, Don Bosco Past Pupils and FMA Past Pupils are excited about making the best of next year's Strenna motivation.

The 10-page presentation is available in the 5 main SF languages, while waiting for EAO translators hard work in Burmese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Tetum, Thai and Vietnamese.
