Provincial House, Tokyo, Japan, 25 July 2022 -- Our confrere, Salesian Fr Dominic Savio Yukio Nagasawa (aged 82, 62 years of profession, a priest for 53 years) was called to Father's home at St. Francis Hospital (Nagasaki) on July 24, 2022 at 16:17.

Father Dominic Savio Yukio Nagasawa was born in 1940 in Taito-ku, Tokyo. He was ordained as a priest on 13 September 1969. The motto he chose when he was ordained as a priest was “The fragrance of Christ” and throughout his 59 years of Salesian life and 50 years of priesthood, he said: “But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of HIM everywhere (2 Corinthians 2:14).

After becoming a priest, Father Dominic Savio Yukio Nagasawa served youth in orphanages, schools and parishes. Last year he was sent to the 'Caritas Sisters of Jesus' in Nagasaki as a chaplain.

Fr Dominic Savio Nagasawa was an active man. He spent his life, time and funds always generously, especially for the mission to young people.

Thank you, Father Nagasawa. 'Holidays' was not a word you recognised and you worked so hard. Please take a rest in the arms of Jesus.
