Invitation for each Salesian from Cambodia!

By Cl. Kong Somony, SDB

Sihanoukville, Cambodia, 1 November 2018 -- In our community refectory (Don Bosco Sihanoukville) as in every other Salesian house, we have on the wall the most recent poster of Salesian Family Holiness (ed. 2018) with the main photos of the 173 Salesian Saints, Blesseds, Venerables and Servants of God. It may remain a beautiful decoration and we may pass by without any special feeling.

One day we seized on the idea of attaching a small mirror at the poster centre, so that anyone passing by can have the chance of seeing his / her own face among the large crowd of our Salesian Family Saints! It's a simple but very meaningful invitation.

Today we celebrate as a Catholic community the Solemnity of All Saints. Our community (Rector Fr Eugene Xalxo) would like to share this simple 'device' with the Salesian Family and remind all of us that we are called to be truly 'Happy Salesians - Holy Salesians'.

Indeed. we still need to slowly digest the message of Pope Francis 'Rejoice and Be Glad' on the call to holiness in today's world and our next Strenna for 2019. What makes you deeply happy? This question from the recent visitation by our Regional Councillor means asking ourselves: "What are your ways of deep happiness and holiness'.

From Sihanoukville we wish you a Happy Feastday!
