Interschool Athletics in Samoa
Savaii, Samoa, 10 August 2018 -- College Sports Committee held an athletics day for 12 colleges at Don Bosco College. This event is to choose excellent athletes representing for all colleges in Savaii Island to participate in “Champs of Champs” event that will be held in Upolu Island for all colleges in Samoa. This event was attended by the Principals, students, parents and especially athletes representing their colleges.
At 8:00 in the morning, on behalf of College Sports Committee, Fr. Nuku Leafia, SDB the Principal of Don Bosco College, welcomed warmly to everyone coming to the event. He also gave some encouragement for athletes and led prayers to open the day.
The games started at 8:30 in the track with 200 meters for girls. After that, field events began simultaneously with Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Discuss, Javelin and Shot put. The atmosphere was lively on the field by the fierce competition of the athletes and the cheers of the supporters.
At 16:00, the organizer of the event presented trophies to the winning teams and thanked God and everyone for a successful day. The event ended at 16:15. The Salesian Family spirit was celebrated once again in the presence of hundreds of our students, our teachers - lay mission partners and the Salesians in Samoa.
