SYM Personal Leadership Formation

By Mr. Gabriel Veloso

Cebu, the Philippines, 30 June 2018 -- The Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) organized the Kool Adventure Camp (KAC) – Youth Development Program (Personal Leadership Post Program) for Cebu District of the KAC alumni and the animators and leaders who aspired to become a KAC camper. This aims to nourish and cultivate the inner leadership of the SYM alumni campers and the non-campers. It is also the way to recollect and reassess every individual’s game plan in life, in the community, and in their own setting as they move forward. The activity was facilitated by the KAC facilitators from RAFI (Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc.). There were about 68 participants from DBTC, DB-Lawaan, DB-Liloan, DB-Lourdes, and DB-Pasil who participated the said activity.

Before the session started, the ground rules were given for the easy succession of the activity. When the breakout sessions and the plenary activities started, the participants were so hyped and were very excited to execute the activities. After which, the KAC facilitators gave their input on how to be S.M.A.R.T in aiming the individual goals in life.

At the end of the activity, the participants were given a form for them to answer and evaluate what they learned and how to cope up something in life with the use of their experiences in the program.

As a concluding activity, the facilitators introduced another new game that challenges the mind, teamwork, and attentiveness of each one of the participants.

Kool Adventure Camp is a leadership training designed by the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) to train participants (in the corporate world or in the civic and Church groups) in the mode of conquering “dragons” which are actually different ropes course and outdoor obstacles which can trigger the positive and challenging aspects of life. The most important part of the adventure is always the group processing to give the participants some handles on dealing with life’s challenges and how to be proactive in facing life, work, and relationships. Don Bosco and RAFI are partners for the longest time in training our youth leaders and animators.
