Keeping an eye on useful resources - Stairway to Heaven with some quick Irish footwork!

ROME: 18th April 2007 -- Some may have noticed a reference to 'Savio ser Santo' on the www.sdb.org home page but dodged it because it was in Spanish.  Well, dodge no longer!  It is now in English, thanks to Fr Pat Egan from the Irish Province, and hopefully by the time this item is mailed out to you, it will be available on the same home page (at least a link to it) in English. Readers will find it a useful item in preparation for the Feast of Dominic Savio several weeks away from us at this point - useful in particular for classroom or group work for the 12-15 age group (but not only). Don't forget to pick up the audio mp3 version of Stairway to Heaven which goes with it.  The two items (ppt and mp3) can also be found on SDL (see link below) - best way is to go 'Browse format' and pick it out from ppt and mp3 respectively (right click to download).  And, of course, as mentioned yesterday, you can find the liturgical material in updated translation in English on SDL giving australasia nov0797 when it asks, as also indicated yesterday.
An entirely different set of resources in direct relation to our EAO region, for those who receive a range of print materials from Salesian sources:

  •     Aussie Salesian Bulletin, March edition - a colourful presentation of Vietnam. Appropriate reading at the moment to follow up the Rector Major's recent visit there, something he spoke to the RMG community about today, in glowing terms.
  •     'Salesian', that small Salesian Missions (USA) magazine - the Winter/Spring 2007 edition has an excellent article on the Mongolian mission, possibly cobbled together from the series of austraLasias on that mission.
  •     Salesianum: this one's in Italian only; the January-March volume features the first part of a study by Mario Midali, professor at the UPS, on the foundation of the Sisters of Charity of Miyazaki. The article comes to grips with the various persons who played a role in that foundation - Cavoli, Cimatti, and the first Sisters. The overall thesis is that this is a truly 'co-founded' Congregation where each element played an indispensable role.
