Tetere, Solomon Islands, 2 May 2016 - Probably the most happy rural vocation training center in the whole EAO region we can find in Tetere - 20 km distance from the capital city of Honiara. Really the famous nickname of Solomon Islands - Happy Isles - is very true.

We are three Salesians (Rector Fr. Albert Lenon) entrusted with a wonderful mission of the Christ the King Parish with many village sub-stations and the Don Bosco Rural Training Center (RTC, every year about 200 boarding trainees).

Unfortunately majority of our RTC boys and girls don't know their birthday! Since they have never experienced what it's a birthday celebration, so sometimes the Salesians decide (!?) when to celebrate.

Once every month we celebrate the birthday with cultural presentation of each celebrant. Also this month there was a personal singing competition and as you can observe through the photos, our youth did perform with with passion! Although they never had any music lesson, their guitar and singing performance is admirable. Sometimes reflect about their situation: they are so gifted - but they don't know about it and live just day by day! If they would know, if they would able to receive a little bit more education to develop their gifts... this country and their life would change a lot!

In this humble way our Don Bosco education setting helps a little to up-lift the life of many Solomon Islanders. Please, pray for us, that our Don Bosco RTC youth may grow during these two year stay with us! Really, education is a key to the future!
