Servant of God Fr Carlo della Torre and the passing of former DQM Superior
(and what our readers say: not related to the main topic)

BANGKOK: 4th April 2006 --  For those who keep an eye on the Necrology, today 4th April is the 24th anniversary of the death of Fr Carlo della Torre, member of the Thai Province and then Founder of the Daughters of the Queenship of Mary in Thailand.  Fr della Torre's Cause has been introduced.  This seems an appropriate time to inform readers of the death, last month, of Sr. Theresa Manee Kanchananurak DQM, one of the original seven of the band of women whom Carlo della Torre directed in 1954 and which led to the nucleus of a now thriving Institute.  Sr Theresa made her first profession in 1955.  She was superior of the Institute from 1980-86.  She died in Bangkok at the age of 71.

What our readers say: there is a vastly increasing correspondence with regard to austraLasia. It is good to note what our readers say:  I accept humble apologies for indicating yesterday that Richard of Chichester's prayer was 'immortalised in JC Superstar' - it was Godspell!  Of course. The same writer was kind enough not to have noted that it was a 'lionheart' we were talking about - not a lion in heat :-)  It all goes to show that one should not write austraLasia after a major celebration such as yesterday, Mass and dinner with the Rector Major!  On another issue, the following note: "I want to thank you...for putting together the news items.  You will be happy to know it is the most consistent reading I do (including all the stuff I receive in my inbox and need to keep an eye on at work "[this writer is a member of the ASC and works in the Telecommunications industry, so one can imagine how many emails].  As for the Mamma Margaret Powerpoint, that too seems to have struck a chord - several responses from various parts of the world: "Armed with portable projector, my laptop and Teresio Bosco's 'Una biografia Nueva' [clearly a Hispanic writer!] we went through the slidepack and read the stories extensively in just under an hour. Conclusion: everyone was now very aware of the contribution of Don Bosco's mum in the origins of the Salesian work and spirit..."
