Don Bosco Ulan Bataar celebrates Don Bosco’s birth bicentennial. Five hundred people, young and old attended the gathering. Father Rector Andy gave awards to teaching, non-teaching staff and students inaugurated and blessed.
  • Mongolian traditional welcome to the guests, forming a Ger (house) symbolizing love and unity in the family
  • Dance by the Don Bosco school staff
  • Mongolian music played with morin hoor (nose flute) by Savio Care Center

Ulan Baatar Mongolia Celebrates Bicentenary of Don Bosco’s Birth (VIE-Mongolia)

January 30, 2015. More than 500 people, young and old gathered at Don Bosco Ulanbaatar, a sort of a recordbreaker and a first in the history of the church of Mongolia.

The gathering started at 9:00 a.m. It was graced by the presence of distinguished guest Vicar General of Mongolia, honorable government officials, missionaries, parents, student s and staff.

The program that began with a colorful welcoming ceremony according to the Mongolian tradition consisted of the following:

  • A song. “We love and honor Don Bosco who is a Wonderful Father”
  • Fr. Rector and delegate of Mongolia, Fr. Andy’s address
  • Song and dance of Domenica Mazarello’ 2 – 5 year old kindergarten pupils
  • Dance,”Bienvenido Don Bosco” performed by the teaching and non-teaching staff.
  • Dance of 250 students entitled, “Da mihi animas”.
  • “Saint John Bosco our Loving Father” song
  • Don Bosco Care Center instrumental rendition using “morin hoor” (nose flute)

In his introductory remarks Fr. Rector Andy pointed out that, “Living and working together is fundamental for applying the preventive system in our school. Parents must be good parents to their children; teachers must be good teachers and students must be good students. In this way we can form a wonderful society.”

Highllighting the program was Fr. Rector Andy’s giving of awards to the faithful teachers who have served the school for 5 or 10 years followed by the awards to excellent students for their conduct and studies.
