Valdocco, Turin, Italy, 22 January 2020 -- The already traditional large group participation (380 SF members), grew beyond the ordinary 'quota' for each of the 32 SF groups with 14 Caritas Sisters of Jesus taking part this year. 3 days later, the Valdocco theatre performance of the 'Caritas Human Orchestra' song' went viral on the Facebook pages with more than 16,000 views and more than 330 shares.
As for each every year a large group of Caritas Sisters of Jesus represented all circumscriptions of the Congregation (provinces of Japan, Korea-Seoul, Korea-Gwangju, Korea-Suwon and Viceprovinces of Latin America) together with Mother General, Sr. Teresia Furuki and her councillors.
During the 4-day program there were three group workshops that the Caritas Sisters spent among themselves. What touched their hearts on the first and second days may be expressed in their prayer:
Give us courage today to meet the poor like the Good Samaritan.
Give us courage today to look every day after our neighbors in needs.
Give us courage today to see, to meet and to help the poor people around us.
There was a good chance also for one afternoon short pilgrimage around Turin and most of the Caritas sisters visited and prayed in the Church of St Francis of Assisi, the place of the new priests school (Saint Cafasso) and the venue of encounter between Don Bosco and Bartholomew Garelli as well the first Oratory small courtyard.
On the third day in the evening there was a simple family 'Academy' with a few items animated by the SDB novices from Colle Don Bosco. The two Caritas motion songs - Cimatti's AVE MARIA and 'Human Orchestra' harvested great applause and until now this song video has garnered more 350 share and 16,000 views on the Facebook!
On the last day, each of the 16 present Salesian Family group shared their good experience with education and evangelization, to foster Upright Citizens and Good Christians. Caritas sisters again made a difference with very concrete and heart-touching sharing of their similar 'food mission' in Bolivia, Japan or Korea. In all three stories the feeding, cooking the food or delivery of lunch boxes to poor families offers a nice opportunity for reaching out at a human relationship level to people of other faiths in need, to listen to them, answer their immediate needs and eventually also 'whisper the Gospel' in a typical Salesian - Caritas way!
Our hope is that each Salesian Family group takes the opportunity of 2020 Strenna with the same warm heart as the Caritas Sisters at Valdocco!
