Fatumaca, Timor Leste, 24 May 2018 -- It is and will be the precious tradition for the members of Salesian Family all over the world to celebrate this Marian feast in various ways and colors. In some provinces there would be ordination, perpetual or even the first religious profession of our confreres and other religious activities in honor of Our Lady Help of Christians. Yet it is commemorated in world level, no matter wherever it is and whenever it is celebrated. From different regions and countries, this feast would have the same meaning for the Salesian Family. We’re thanking God because of Mary!

From Fatumaca, Valdocco of ITM, this feast is solemnly celebrated. It starts at the grotto of Our Lady with procession, carrying the statue of Our Lady, accompanied by her devotees while singing and walking, reciting the Rosary. Some members of the Salesian Family from Laga, Baucau, Venilale and the surroundings participate in the said procession together with His Excellency, Most Rev. Virgílio do Carmo da Silva, SDB Bishop of Dili and the provincials of SDB and FMA, Salesian priests, FMA sisters and other religious sisters.

This annual gathering continues after it takes place in front of the Sanctuary to commence the Eucharistic celebration. Bishop Virgílio is the presider and the homilist. In the homily, the Bishop invites every one to thank God for all blessings during the year and to renew one’s devotion to Mary Help of Christians as well as asking not to stop of praying the Rosary in one’s family. This beautiful commemoration ends up with kissing of the statue of Our Lady and a special program with songs and dances performed by different groups.

Thanks to the confreres of Fatumaca who organize and host this annual celebration. Mary Help of Christians, pray for us!
