K’ Long, Vietnam, 11 November 2017 -- The EAO CSC Delegates began their 2017 Regional Meeting yesterday afternoon with Fr. Filiberto Gonzalez, SDB, the General Councilor for Social Communications and Fr. Pablo Abreu, SDB, his secretary.

The main agenda of yesterday’s meeting was the report of every delegate about the resolutions made in the last regional meeting in Chofu, Japan in November 2015. Every delegate took his/her turn in presenting to the assembly how the resolutions were accomplished or not in the past two years.

The afternoon’s first session started at 3:30pm and ended at 6:00pm.

Those present were:

Fr. Albeiro Rodas, SDB (Cambodia Delegation),

Fr. John Chong Jae Jun, SDB (Korea),

Fr. Jose Maria De Sa, SDB (East Timor),

Fr. Ambrose Pereira, SDB (Papua New Guinea/Solomon Islands),

Fr. Fidel Orendain, SDB (Philippines South),

Fr. Bernard Nolasco, SDB (Philippines North),

Cleric Delphin Ndungu Kahemba, SDB (China),

    Fr. William Matthews, SDB (Australia),

    Fr. Joseph Manachai, SDB (Thailand),

Ms. Izumi Sakura (Japan) and Ms. Yurie Endo (Japan).

Today, every CSC delegate presented his/her report to the assembly on the how the CSC is animating his/her Province or Delegation. This reporting by province or delegation occupied the whole of the morning and early afternoon sessions.

After the afternoon break, the assembly was divided into two small groups to discuss what possible changes and improvements they need to address in the CSC in order to better serve the Salesian mission in the personal level, commission level, province level, regional level, in the inter-sectoral level, and most especially in the level of the young people.

After half an hour of group discussions, both groups gathered in a plenary assembly to listen to the reports of both groups. There were interactive discussions after the reporting. Fr. Filiberto made a recap of what happened this whole day.

Tomorrow, the day will be spent in having an interactive joint meeting between the EAO delegates on Social Communications and Youth Ministry.
