South Asia Migrant Oratory in Tung Chung

By Fr. Dolphie Sequeira, SDB

Hong Kong, 17 July 2017 -- Our Teenagers at Tung Chung are involved in various activities every week also in summer. We are interested to give them more opportunities for growth and openness. The Ethnic minorities children are increasing more at these new territories. We are looking for a place to conduct regular activities and programs. We would be delighted to expand our ministry also to these youth.

The best news that along with the Salesian Cooperators who support us regularly we have also started building up volunteers team from among the teenagers so that the work is supported through them.

We are venturing into multiple activities at Tung Chung rather than same routine. Our DBSAYS (Don Bosco South Asia Youth Services) office at St Louis School (Western Hong Kong) also gets few youth every Saturdays. Though their number is less but they are qualified youth.

DBSAYS which is a migrant ministry move forward for reaching out to more teenagers and youth. The Nepalese want a place for music band practice and they will play in the name of Don Bosco. We are giving our full support to them. And we are also searching a place for their practice too!

Don Bosco South Asia Youth Services started with the arrival of Fr. Dolphie in 2013 and was strengthened in 2016 with the arrival of Fr. Kishore. Both Salesians head from South Asia Region (India) and are involved in a variety of youth ministry for the poorest of migrant youth in Hong Kong - coming from Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan and India. The main Oratory run in Tung Chung is a low income housing area close to the Hong Kong airport.
