Tokyo, Japan, 11 June 2017 -- On the Feast of the Holy Trinity, the 47th annual meeting of 6 Salesian churches was held at Himonya Parish (Meguro, Tokyo). Approximately 200 people from 6 Salesian churches in the metropolitan area (Adachi, Saginuma, Shimoigusa, Chofu, Himonya, and Mikawajima) attended the ceremony.
The Gathering was particularly focused on "Vocation." 4 Salesians shared about the vocation respectively. The parish priest of Himonya Church, Fr. Achille Loro Piana SDB, Fr. Provincial Mario Yamanouchi SDB, the assistant parish priest Fr. Shin Mishima SDB, and Cl. Chihiro Morito SDB, who belongs to East African Province but is now temporarily in his home country.
The important points of their sharings confirmed by all the participants are below.
- To look at the vocation with the eyes of God,
- To consider vocations not only from Japan but from a global perspective,
- The adults should firmly accompany the young, supporting their progress,
- To pray for the vocation of Japanese church, and Salesian society. And to do concrete actions.
We also prayed for vocation in the Eucharistic adoration. The singing voice of the chant resonated more strongly in the basilica than usual mass in Himonya, and it was a wonderful prayer time.
At a subsequent social gathering, the status report of each parish was made, with a moment of Salesian fellowship of joy, and we finished the meeting with the blessings of Our Lady, Help of Christians by Fr. Provincial.
Thank you so much, the staffs of Himonya Church! The Meeting of the next year is scheduled to be held at Chofu Church.
