Funeral Eucharist of Mr. Pier Luigi Martoglio,

father of Fr. Stefano Martoglio, SDB

By Our Own Correspondent

Cumiana, Italy, 16 July 2018 -- Last July 14th passed away the "Gigi" (Pier Luigi Martoglio) a father of Fr. Stefano Martoglio, General Councilor for the Mediterranean Region (Italy, Spain, Portugal and Middle East province) at the age of 82 years in Cumiana (Turin archdiocese, Italy).

For the funeral Eucharist presided by his son, Fr. Stefano on July 16th in a crowded Cumiana parish Church were present about 80 Salesian priests, including the Rector Major, Fr. Angel Fr. Artime and majority of General Council members, many FMA sisters, other Salesian Family members of Piedmont and local parishioners including Fr. Martoglio family.

As does happen usually at these 'Salesian' funeral occasions, it's one of the finest experience of Salesian family spirit, of faith in the Risen Lord, communion with the local Church. During our life time, as Don Bosco son's we 'take interest also in the parents of confreres, and consider them as united to the community in a special way' (SDB Regulations 176).

Also yesterday, the homily and few short sharings at the end of the Eucharist, revealed our deep affection, family bonds and dynamic faith in the resurrection - eternal life. Also the participation and involvement of our Salesian confrere parents in the vocation journey of their sons, like Mamma Margaret.

While we entrust 'Gigi' (Pier Luigi) Martoglio to the Heavenly Father, praying for his eternal rest and console the whole Martoglio family at this moment (Mother of Fr. Stefano went to heaven 10 years ago), we give thanks for the gift of deep family spirit experience in as the Family of Don Bosco.
