Sending lay missionary volunteers

By Fr. Raphael Lee, SDB

Seoul, Korea, 4 June 2018 -- Don Bosco Nanum (Korea Province Mission Office) advertised on the web (www.ibosco.net) as well through the printed media on behalf of the Mongolia - Ulaanbaatar SDB community the need for one lay mission volunteer for an education services. At the end of the process was chosen one missionary volunteer Ms. Clara Park Hye-Jong; she was since 2016 an active members of the DB Nanum benefactors network and was also involved in the counselling volunteer services in Korea. Ms. Clara was also for a longer time interested in the oversea volunteer program and took this opportunity to serve also out of her country.

Last Monday, June 4, after an initial missionary formation there was the send off event. Five Salesians were involved in the formation before her departure - with few themes (Salesian Youth Ministry, Salesian Congregation and history, Volunteer Commitment, Missionary attitude and Don Bosco Spirituality).

A simple Send Off Ceremony was presided by the SDB Provincial Fr. Stefano Yang and participated by the Director of Don Bosco Nanum, Fr. Raphael Lee and the staff. Ms. Clara Park made a promise to serve with her whole heart the poor youth and Mongolian people with the grace of God. She will be involved in the new satelite presence (parish) of Shuwuu near (35 km) Ulanbaatar, Mongolia for next 3 months as music teacher (for the young) and cooking teacher (for the adults).
