Caritas Sisters of Suwon Province - Witness to the Gospel

Provincial of our Lady Province
Yangpyeng, Korea, 3 September -- Suwon Province of Our Lady of Gospel Witness was founded in 2009 when the one Korean province was divided in three (Seoul, Kwangju and Suwon). Their provincial house is located in Yangpyeng, remote zone between Seoul and Chuncheon, so the provincial house community is blessed with presence of one resident SDB chaplain since February 2017.
107 Caritas Sisters (with 5 postulants) are living in 26 local communities, average age of 50 years. Main fields of the mission are parishes (16), social work for the seniors, health care, kindergartens, social communication and service to the diocese (office and Bible apostolate). There are also 3 members - missionary ad gentes abroad (Argentina, South Sudan and PNG).
According their Charism, Suwon province sisters are always aiming at the mission frontiers or peripheries: opening new houses for the migrant families, victims of domestic violence or single mothers. However their most visible mission is the 'Bible and Life' Publishing house with nation-wide Bible apostolate with 35 years long tradition, stretching in all dioceses of South Korea.
New provincial house of Suwon was blessed just two years ago and last October 2016 the Suwon province retreat house was a venue for the 16th General Chapter of the whole Congregation.
According the 2017 Directory there 6 provinces of Caritas Sisters of Jesus (1 in Japan, 3 in Korea and two in Latin America: Peru-Bolivia and Argentina-Brazile).
