'+Synonyms+': Constitutions, Constitutions and Regulations, Project of Apostolic Life

'+Geographical/Regional usage+':

'+Description+': The Foreword (called 'Presentation' in the English edition) to the 1984 Salesian Constitutions uses the term in its first sentence. This sentence is then followed by a second which includes the terms manual and identity card. There are more than the Constitutions and Regulations involved in this instance; the 22nd General Chapter also included key texts from Don Bosco's hand, or at least signed by him (the Letter from Rome!). The Groups which make up the Salesian Family have their specific Rules of Life, and there are also three overarching texts which might be called, at least broadly, a common Rule of Life for the Salesian Family, the Salesian Identity Card, the Common Mission Statement, and the Charter of Identity for the Salesian Family. ''Rule of Life'', then is a term which includes Constitutions, Regulations, Directories and other texts considered normative.

'+Context (examples of use)+': "Here at last, dear confreres, is our renewed and approved Rule of life" (Presentation of the Constitutions of the Society of St Francis of Sales).

'+Other notes+': The term may be capitalised, partly capitalised, or lower case, according to whim.

(:zapend:) (:zapform key=Type:) '''Term type''' ('EntryTerm' ''if no other applies)'' (1) (2) [Initialisms like AGC are regarded as acronyms; a term like 'Bro.' is an abbreviation; an example of short form instead would be the main part of a very long book title (most of DB's book titles! 'Giovane Provveduto' is a short form). A loan term is not translated whereas a calque is. A blend is where two (or more) morphemes or 'word' parts have been combined to form a single term, as in the case of 'austraLasia'. Choose variant when there exists at least one other common form of the term. ] (:zapend:)

Deprecated indicates official disapproval or if not disapproval, official abandonment at least. A neologism is a term that has come into play relatively recently - say, since Vatican II, but the time frame can be flexible.] (:zapend:)
