'+Description+': It is interesting to note that Don Bosco was seeking approval for the Society of St Francis de Sales precisely at a time when the Church was revising its approach. This, along with certain difficulties Don Bosco was facing in his personal relationships with his archbishop (Gastaldi) in the last part of the process particularly, meant it was 1874 before he finally gained the last needed approval. In 1863 the Holy See decided to reform the processes of approval for new Congregations, by introducing what it called the ''Methodus'', which foresaw first a decree of commendation, a form of encouragement to continue with the process, then a decree of approval for the institute, followed finally by the decree of approval of the constitutions.

'+Context (examples of use)+': On 23 February 1864 the Roman Congregation of Bishops and Regulars issued the "Decretum laudis" by which it officially recognized the existence of the new Society. The decree was accompanied by 13 "animadversiones" to be taken into account in preparing the Constitutions for future approval. (From the ''Project of Life'').

'Giovane Provveduto' is a short form). A loan term is not translated whereas a calque is.
