Cardinal Zen visits PNG
PORT MORESBY: 5 July 2012 --  JOSEPH Cardinal Zen Ze-kium, accompanied by Archbishop Santo Gangemi, Apostolic Nuncio for Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands and Fr. Emmanuel Fadeyi, Secretary, were warmly welcomed by Fr. Raffy Galve sdb, PNG-SI Delegate, Rectors and confreres on 5th July, 2012 at Emmaus Retreat Centre, Port Moresby.

Benedict XVI appointed Cardinal Joseph Zen Ze-kium, retired bishop of Hong Kong, as his special envoy to celebrate the centenary of the birth of Blessed Peter To Rot. The celebrations honouring the catechist and martyr of Papua New Guinea will take place in Rabaul on Saturday.

After the meal, Fr. Eduardo Revilla, Rector of Savio House, Boroko expressed his joy in song, while Fr. Raffy thanked him for his visit to the Salesian community – his second visit to the country.  The Cardinal recalled incidents of his past visit and requested the confreres to pray for the church in China.

The Rectors of the PNG-SI Delegation, presently on their retreat, which concludes on 6th July, 2012, were happy to spend the evening and enjoy a delicious meal together with their esteemed guests.  The retreat is being preached by Fr. Henry Boneti sdb has novel insights into the life and pastoral activity of Don Bosco and the early Salesians.

The Rectors and Council meeting will be held at the end of the retreat, after which the confreres will return to their communities.
