Cambodian
webmaster wins scholarship to China
Sihanoukville: 16 March 2012 --
The
chief webmaster for Don Bosco sites in Cambodia, Mr Sieng, is
going
to China for 18 months thanks to a scholarship he has been
awarded by a
University. Fr Al Rodas, who initially trained him, says: "I
am very
proud and hope to see him come back with more talents, as a
real son of
Don Bosco. His dedication and his love for Don Bosco will
surely give
him the best. His pupils will continue his work on the
websites of Don
Bosco in Cambodia".
A US web-trawling site has listed it amongst its "Top 10
Websites in Cambodia":
donboscohotelschool.com makes it in at tenth position. Fr
Rodas opened
the website in 2007. In 2009 it was Sieng, with the support of
Mr.
Pietro Hublits, who continued and now he is the webmaster. The
citation
for the site as one of Cambodia's best is as
follows:

Bosco is the name of the
technical school in Cambodia aiming to offer technical
knowlege to
Cambodian students so they can use this knowledge to improve
their
living conditions. Lately, Don Bosco has developed a resort
and its own
hotel in Sihanouk province. It is very good place to enjoy
and relax.
Of course, maintianing good rankings requires constant effort.
Google
page rank is a world-wide ranking system that currently places
the
donbosco hotel site at '3'. Officially there are 10 levels,
but only
Google gets '10'!! For all practial purposes, '7' is regarded
as the
'top' ranking from Google, unless you are CNN or Amazon or
someone in
that categtory. sdb.org, for example, gets '5' on this scale.
Google
page rank indicates the importance based on the importance of
other
sites that point to your pages.
A good way to check your site traffic is not Google but the
Alexa
ranking, which most webmasters would give greater credence to.
Alexa
actually tells you who is linking to your site at the
moment. In
Sihanoukville's case: yahoo.com,squidoo.com, hubpages.com
(pisethz.hubpages.com/hub/top-10-khmer-websites),
cruisecritic.com
wikitravel.org etc, or in other words, important travel
sites, which
is to their advantage.
