Seoul: Salesian Family Spirituality Day

SEOUL: 9 April, 2011 --  About 400 Salesian Family members (SDB, FMA, CSJ - Caritas, VDB, SYM) who live in Seoul or central areas of Korea gathered in the provincial house for Salesian Family Spirituality Day on Saturday, April 9. As the Strenna for this year, 'Come and See, was the main theme of the day, each group had prepared materials to share on their own vocation situation and how to create a true culture of vocation, as mentioned by the Rector Major in his commentary.
The day's program began with the opening prayer organized, as is done annually, by the Caritas Sisters. Then followed the presentation by Fr Salesio Na  the Rector of the Formation community at Daerimdong in Seoul. Representatives from each SF Group then described their vocation ministry activities.
After lunch, participants joined in games organized by the Daerimdong community. Towards evening Mass was celebrated with the Provincial, Fr Stefano Nam as main celebrant. In the homily he recalled the RM's visit last October during which he had told the Salesian Family: "I came here to give you Don Bosco's smile". Fr Nam continued by commenting that each SF Group can give this to those who accept the invitation to 'Come and See'.
All those who took part came to the general conclusion that each Group in its particular way has to be able to proclaim to the world 'Come and see' and to testify to those who want to see something, expressing God's love for us.
The challenge in a country like Korea, where Christianity holds a minor position in society, is a big one.  As Salesians we have to proclaim God's existence, first off, then proclaim the Word of God, to lead them to accept it. And all the while inviting more people to join Don Bosco's mission for the salvation of the young through the apostolate which is proper to each Salesian Family Group.
