THA: Fr Paul Prasert installed as Provincial

BANGKOK: 5 February 2011
-- The installation ceremony for the new Provincial of St Paul Province, THA, Fr Paul Prasert Somngam, took place on 4 February 2011 at the proivincial house, Bangkok. The installation ceremony took place at the church of Mary Help of Christians in the provincial compound at 10.00 am. Bishop Joseph Prathan Sridarunsil sdb. presided at the solemn mass, flanked by the outgoing and incoming provincials and provincial council members. Around 50 Salesian priests and 20 Salesians from Thailand and Cambodia joined the Eucharistic celebration with the presence of around 250  Salesian family members.
Bishop Joseph Prathan preached the homily using God's word for the daily liturgy, the story of the beheading of John the Baptist, to remind all leaders of the Church and religious congregations to be courageous and to speak the truth, like John the  Baptist, who was straight to the point ("It is not right for you to live with your brother's wife").
After the mass, there was a program at the provincial house auditorium to thank Fr Dheparat Pitisant, the outgoing provicial, for his 6 years of service and to welcome the new provincial, Fr Paul Prasert Somngam. The representatives of all the Salesian houses and each superior of Salesian Family member group took turn to present good wishes to the new provincial. The program also included shows from some of the Salesian aspirantates and brothers in initial formation.     A festive lunch was served for all after the program and everyone went back home happily, praising the Lord for His wonderful deeds.
